Unbelievable.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has filed a lawsuit against a Fort Worth assisted living center, claiming its manager threatened residents with a hammer, withheld food and locked some of them out of the building at night.
[…]
According to state inspectors from the Department of Aging and Disability Services, at least five residents at the facility have complained that McCoy abused them. Some residents said she took the mattresses from their beds and forced them to sleep on metal bed frames, as punishment for soiling their sheets. They also said she locked them out of the building overnight. According to Abbott, state inspectors also found evidence that McCoy hit several residents and threatened some with a hammer.

Holy mackeral! The manager did that? You should have called this
Admistrator Gone Wild.

It’s not funny but here I sit laughing. Those poor residents!

America just loves its Seniors and Persons with Disabilities, doesn’t it?

Meanwhile, those Politicians and Lawmakers sure are on top of the game where Staffing by Acuity of Resident Needs and laws requiring same are concerned aren’t they?

Corporate ownership probably skated on this one as well. How’s Chef Pierre, Corporation? Still flipping omellete’s for breakfast for those well-cared for residents? Oh THAT’S RIGHT! They eat CAFETERIA FOOD, served late more often than not, by NURSES.

State Inspectors; always there AFTER THE FACT; yep.

Wonderful.

Cheryl I also laughed- as I almost cried at the same time. Where are people’s common sense?? Especially a manager?? Gee whiz.

Hey Thomas; the system needs to GO. Nursing homes need to GO…but we know they won’t for awhile. I don’t know how to fix it all- I just know I do the best job I can do given my resources. I think, also, there needs to be a shift in thinking on the part of Americans. You said it- WE love our elderly…well, yes so long as we don’t have to do any hands care giving for older members of our own family. After all, that might mean making sacrifices and what not. In the old days this was the way of it. We only had nursing homes for those with no family or the severely disabled. Now perfectly healthy elderly folks are being placed…what a sad thing given our modern society eh?
