Mildred Warden has been practicing her pageant wave, and it’s a good thing too; last weekend she was crowned Ms. Senior Oklahoma in the Long-Term Care category.

“It was so much fun and you know, I wasn’t even nervous,” Warden said.

Warden and fellow resident Liz Driscoll of The Gardens competed in the pageant held Sept. 8 at the TCC Van Trease Center.

“I had a great time and enjoyed it very much,” said Driscoll, who competed in the Assisted Living category.

This is the second year that the regional pageant has been held, and also the second year that a resident of The Gardens has competed.

“The Ms. Senior Oklahoma Pageant is an event celebrating the amazing women living right here in Oklahoma –– ladies living in area senior facilities,” stated Carolyn McGhay, director of community relations at Grace Hospice, the event’s present sponsor.

The pageant contestants were judged on attire, poise, stage presence, their personal platform and the interview segment of the show.

What a fabulous idea! I bet these ladies had the time of their lives with this; and the facility that participated is to be commended.
