I'm from NE florida, and all CNA's are required to renewal our certificate by 12/31/07, for the amount of $55.00 for 2 years and $80.00 for three years! I've been a CNA for 6 years in 2005 was the first year they started to charge CNA's $25.00 for cert. renewal. Prior to that for all the CNA's who's been in the business beyond 2005 didn't need to renewal there cert., because there wasn't any fee's beside your first dues for certifaction. Then this year the Florida Board of Nursing decided to break up the CNA's into two groups, to pay two diffrent fee's. And there's nothing we can do about, this isn't a license it's a certificate! The State is Blackmailing all CNA's are to pay those fees or else. The Florida State is raking in alot of revenues form CNA's, because we are the largest group of people in the health care business, and yet we are lowest paying staff. But we are the backbone of the health care facility's across the state. Why do we allow the system to mistreat us! Our future Nursing Students, have no idea how to get there hands dirty and work hard. I have no respect for LPN and RN because they are the laziest people. (I will admit there are some that would get there hands dirty and they are the one's I will respect the most, because they havn't forgotten there compassion to there patients and aids.) I'm mad as hell! I would like florida to become a Union Organization across the State. If anyone know any existing Union in florida please provide me with information because i would like to part of it, or to organize one in this State. We would have a voice and someone will listen. If all CNA'S walk of there jobs tommorow, they would fall apart and loose alot of money from medicare and medicaid. To all CNA's never be afraid to try something diffrent in youroutside of your career! This type of work isn't appreciated by know one other then ther person you are caring for. CNA's are the ANGELS of society not the nurses!
Tnx's for reading
