Coming from a military family I know 40 yrs ago when I was a child we listened to the adults talk about the bad care they got from the V.A. They didn't want to go there one friend of my father's died due to his lack of care. Back then you couldn't sue and you didn't complain after all it's "free" care. Now the vets are finaly demanding the care they should of had all along. My mother died because they didn't think a hysterectomy was needed. (a long story) but the point is had it been done she might still be here. We had to travel from Fl. to Miss. to get her treatment because you have to go the "centers" and Miss. is closest cancer center to us. When she died there they wouldn't send her body back to Fl. Because the feds will coming along soon to oversee the poor job being done by the states...this is criminal. And, to blame current leaders who have asked for funds and budget increases for needed repairs and services who were denied the money- the AR governor should be called on this bigtime. We are at war. They all knew and still know veterans need care and will continue to need care. To allow these sub standard conditions to exist is criminal. Vet Homes are being scutinized in every state cause no one wants to be guilty of not knowing of and fixing problems. I don't see the actual care is an issue. It's the condition of the buildings. THIS can be said for many non Vet nursing homes as well. The problems the military hospitals and nursing homes are having are the fault of Congress and the President. We are at war.
