    Nursing Assistant’s Online

How would you feel if you knew there was a place that you could go to to get feedback from people just like yourself? In the same profession as you? What if I said that you could vent out your day, ask questions, answer others’ questions and that you could do it anonymously and online?

There is a such place, and it’s called NursingAssitants.net. This is a website complete with various message boards pertaining to different topics that peak your interest. If you want to vent out your day, there’s a message board for it! If you want to ask a procedural question, there is a message board for that too! You simply post your question to the website and I guarantee you that in an hour or less you will receive instant feedback from Nursing Assistants all around the globe! You can also read what other’s have posted to the message boards and add a little feedback of your own.

The site also features articles of interest that pertain to the nursing and Nursing Assistant profession. You can read and learn about sanitation procedures, protective measures when working with a patient, long-term and assisted-living facilities, as well as home health and hospitals. You will also find articles on professionalism, work place issues, pay, laws and regulations. A great resource for any CNA that likes to keep up on what is going on in her world of care.

Nursing Assistants that use this website get a great sense of belonging and group support as they vent out their feelings and issues facing them in the nursing profession. They claim that they enjoy coming to their peers online and discussing their work place and the related with people that truly care and take an interest in improving the CNA work environment.

Some CNA’s have stated that the website gives them a sense of anonimity and freedom to say what is on their mind about the issues at work that they could not else discuss with their co-workers. Members of the site post help answers giving different opinions on what could be done to resolve issues troubling a CNA; how to handle it; who to report to; and what they would do if they were in the situation. Often CNA Members will post how they handled the problem in the past and what the outcome was. Then the CNA can pick and choose what answer best fits her situation and take it from there!

Having someone in this field that can identify with us and what we go through on a day-to-day basis is an absolute blessing. Rest assured, the CNA’s on the website are unlike co-workers who may tattle your feelings or what you say all over the facility. There is a level of trust online that you just cannot get anywhere else! It’s a great tool to have if you are in this profession!!

Don’t take just my word for how great NursingAssistants.net really is. Try it for yourself!! You will find that it’s a warm, welcoming, homey place just for you to learn and grow! Click this link right now http://nursingassistants.net/forum to start experiencing a whole new world of Nursing Assistants networking online!!

Welcome BlueUniform. And thanks for such a nice review of the site. I am pleased that you will be an author here. Hope to hear from you often!

    2. francine Says:

looking over your sitewould like to knoe were i can get an online course for cna iI am located at long island ,new york

    3. Patti Says:

Francine, I don’t think there are any online places to become a CNA,you have to attend a class or at least take a challenge test.

    4. Alene A. Adkins Says:

Francine, There are places that will give you and online CNA course, but it is not worth anything. Every state that I know of requires you to have clinical hours as well as classroom hours before you can be certified as a CNA. I am a supervisor for the private duty register for a home health agency and we do not hire anyone who has gotten their certificate through a mail course or on line course. Hope this is helpful. Don’t waste your money.

    5. BlueUniform Says:

There are correspondence schools that offer Nurse Aide training. These schools do not, DO NOT, certify you as a CNA. This is only a training module for people that are interested in being caregivers for their own family or as a private sitter. This training module does not certify you to work in facilities, hospitals, or other agencies. You must take a state approved program through your community college or medical facility in which you complete the destined amount of clinical hours for your state and pass the state required examination to certify you as a CNA. I received an information packet from a correspondence school offering Nurse Assistant and I called them about the training course for a friend of mine. I asked the lady about the course and she told me that it does not say CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT, only Nurse Assistant, so you are not being certified. They will only send you a diploma stating that you took the program through their school. If you are not interested in going to a community college or a facility to obtain your certification, and your state allows you to challenge the CNA test, you could take the correspondence course to familiarize yourself with procedures that you will need to know as a CNA and then use what you have learned to challenge the state test. That will end up costing you the price of the correspondence course plus the additional fees of the challenge test which will put you at about $1200. If you take the CNA program through your community college, you are looking to spend about $250.

I AM A STAY AT HOME MOTHER AND I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE ONLINE CLASSES TO BECOME A CNA .WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO GET STARTED?

    7. Michelle Says:

I also am interested in taking on-line CNA classes. Although the course says you will recieve transcripts and a certificate, I am also wondering about how to become state certified. Do you have any information on this?

    8. Lori Says:

Hi Cindy – have you received any direction? I’m looking for the same info…thanks!

    9. Patti Says:

You cannot get certified on line. There are no legitimate programs…be aware of this. You have to attend classes and take a state test…
      Patti

    10. jennifer Jenkins Says:

I was wandering can you take a class in
another in another state if you are not
a resident and apply for reciprocity in
the state you live in, for example the
state of georiga class and apply to
change over your liscense in the state you live in
      Jennifer

    11. Patti Says:

      No. This isn’t allowed.

    12. Jennifer Jenkins Says:

Hi, its jennifer again I read your response and I have another question what if a cna school from another state applied for distance learning lisecense in your state and you take the course and pass the course, but you recieve your lisence from the state that the school is lisenced in can you then apply for recoprocity

      Jennifer Jenkins

    13. Patti Says:

Most states allow CNA’s to transfer their licenses-providing the CNA has passed a state given and supervised test that meets the requirements of the state one wishes to get a license from.
In my state-New Hampshire-an online course might be ok in Mass.-next state down from us. But it is not acceptable for NH-so an aide seeking to gain licensure in my state would have to take my state’s course and tests before getting licensed…Its a tough call to make when it comes to these online classes. I don’t know of ANY state that would accept it…

    39. Linda Hansen Says:

Dear Staff, I would like to know if there is a course taht I can take for wound CARE? I AM AN CNA.

    40. Pam Peterson Says:

I have read on here several questions about CNA certification, and where one can go to get this certification. I haven’t been able to find any responses, so, I will ask. I live in TN and I have been inquiring with some of the nursing homes and there classes have already started. The only hosptial that does training has a waiting list and I still haven’t heard anything. The Red Cross is to much for me right now. So, I am running out of options. I have found a web sight for St Augustine for online CNA classes, but, are those considered good enough to start your career in nursing? Any Info that you may have to help me out, would be appreciated. I am unemployed right now, and have known for my whole life that I was to be a nurse. Thank you for your help.

    41. Pam Peterson Says:

I also had a question about funding for the CNA classes and/or the things that we need to pursue my career. The unemployement office said that they can help with some but not all. I will still have to come up with uniforms and other required equipment. And I think that I have found the answer to my previous question about online classes, so please disregard that one. Thank you again, for your time and help.

    42. Tammy Says:

You can’t get certified on the internet. Part of the test is hands-on. You can call your local hospital or Nursing home to find out where to go, to get Certified, but you have to show proof of class(or online time) The final Certificate test requires written and hands on. Hope this helps

    43. Tammy Says:

Your local Nursing home facilities are willing to pay you to take the class while working on the floor for them.

    44. alma stewart Says:

I wanted to know how I can check to see if my CNA liscense is still valid? Maybe there is a phone number I can call, or a website I can check?
      Thank you,
      Erin

    48. lisa madden Says:

hello, i have finished my cna course here in new york, i did my internship and i feel i did a great job. not only that i feel very confident now on bedpan and occupied bed…i have taken 3 pre tests and did awesome…i want to go for my state test…i was wondering if someone could give me a feel of what to expect. i think a lot of people stress a lot about the state test. maybe we are over stressing? there are so many tiny things we might not do perfect or forget because of nerves..so we stress that they will fail us for that….maybe someone out there who is from ny or long island can give me and so many others a reality feel of what to expect when we go for our test…it would mean a great deal to me….thank u

    49. Tasary B. Says:

I am a college student. I am interested to take CNA courses.I live in Mckinney,Texas. DO you guys Know any Colleges within 45 Mins Drive from the area to take the course. What is the perspective of getting a job as soon as I complete this course. Can I study the course at home and take the test only or is it necessary to take the course. Since I will have to go to my college it would be easier if I could study at home. What do you recommend?

    54. Lori Young Says:

I just completed my CNA class but, I have worked as a Massage Therapist and Caregiver with Alzheimer’s patients for 20 yrs now.
While I was in my CNA class, I asked our instructor if it would be
ok to bring in “Herbal Tea” such as chamomile for the Alzheimer’s residents and she looked at me like i was a deranged guru.
I also noticed that there is no decafe coffee offered to these residents (at the facility I took my class and now am working)so, they are being hopped up on caffiene throughout the day.. coffee is served with breakfast automatically and lunch then dinner as ordered. I worked in a private care home setting with only alzheimer’s residents and where other caregivers had problems getting them to sleep or sundown less, I didn’t have too many problems once i began bringing herbal teas to work. I would brew a cup for each resident and offer it to them with their bedtime snack. I would wait and notice when they would become sleepy then walk with them to their room and give a nice ten minute back massage. I would say 80% of the time this worked marvelously! Just wanted to share this technique with you all and hope you can implement this safe and loving strategy into your caregiving. Feedback is always welcome, let me know how it works for you also.

    55. Nancy Thomas Says:

Can I get my Home Health Aid License online

    58. Cheryl Says:

      Hello,
I would just like to respond to may questions concerning being a certified nursing assistant in one State and working in another State. In order to work in another State as a certified nursing assistant you would have to take only the State test not the classes to have your certification transfered to the State in which you live. You cannot live in one State and work in another State being a certified nursing assistant. Hope this answers a few questions. I am a certified nursing assitant I live in NC but will be moving to Texas so I will need to take the State test as well in Texas to have my certification transfered to be able to work in the State of Texas. Also if you don’t work in two years while you are certified you will loose your certification, would then have to take the class all over again to become re-certified.

    59. Gina Villafuerte Says:
