I just gradualted a Health Academy at my high school. It is a three-year program in which we complete internships and job-shadowing at local hospitals. I have the kowledge of a CNA, but is there a test which will enable my to get my CNA without any further schooling?

Wow what a great resource. I have been a cna for 5years now and i love it. My spouse nags me all the time to become a nurse like he is but i really dont want to have that scope. I like being where i am. I do the day shift med passes at an assistant living facility. I can get as much hands on on the floor as my time and energy allows. Lately though i have been having difficulty with the legalities of a cna’s scope of work. The issue today is may we apply steri strips to a skin tear? The med tech on didnt know how to do it and the caregiver she was told to ask to do it (by the administrater) said “no its not in my cna scope. So i got called on my first day off and went in to do it. I have no problem with assisting the residents in what ever means i can. I always say if i get fired for helping someone too much then good for me and them. Anyone have issues close to these? I told my spouse when i got home and he said SEE IF YOU WERE A NURSE THIS WOULDNT HAVE COME UP. My answer was oh yea i am going to call our nurse to come in from here hour commute to put a steri strip or two on. LOL NOT

I got my certification in Georgia, when I was in high school, and I now go to college in Florida and I would like/need to get a job ASAP, but I don’t know if my certification transfers to Florida, since my permenant address is still my parent’s house in Georgia. Please help!!

In Georgia how any patients can a (1) CNA care for by themself.

Group home staffing is different than nursing home. The care needs are usually less. But you won’t get paid as much.

Call a local nursing home and ask for the director of nurses. She/he should be able to help you.
