    1. Moppymoe Says:

In Ohio how many patients can 1 nurse aide take care of by their self?

    2. Patti Says:

I don’t know; I am pretty sure Ohio has mandated ratios, but I have no idea what they are. Its hard to mandate ratios when a facility doesn’t have enough aides or nurses. Usually the ratio would be 8:1 on days or 9:1 or something like that. Evenings and nights have higher ratios. Anyone else know what the numbers are? In CA the people just struck down the ratio law because the state cannot afford to keep nursing homes in compliance. Sheesh-plus there isn’t enough nurses and aides to meet the requirements working in the state. They can’t force people to move to the state to work…

    3. tonya Says:

I work night shift in Virginia. Two aides are supposed to work on a hall. When there are two of us I have 24 patients. Most of the time due to low staffing I have the whole hall to myself. That leaves me with all 48 residents to care for.

    9. Losa Maluia Says:

I moved and did not inform sacramento, about address changes, but I did sent a letter stating the reason. Any ways I am not sure exactly what to do. If you have a Owens Tech they have the classes you need to becoma a Cna or STNA. That is where i took my classes and I have to say they are very good at making sure you are fully trained.
Good luck. This world needs some loving Nursing assistants I hope you are ready to open your heart because with the joy of being a nursing assistant there is also heartache.

    16. Nancy Says:

I’m looking for a place to train to be a CNA in the Detroit, MI area. Where do I go?

    17. Kelly Hernandez Says:

I am graduating a year early this May from highschool so I was wondering what the age limit to work as a CNA would be in Texas particually (Dallas) because I would really like to be one. Thanks

    18. Patti Says:

I would advise everyone to stay AWAY from any of the online CNA programs. States do not except them for certification. It is a waste of your time and money! And also, as an FYI, stay away from those correspondence courses as well. Call your local red Cross chapters, local nursing homes and even the state boards of nursing to find out where to get your training.

    19. trish Says:

hi! I just found this site, and have been reading through some of the post. I applied for a job yesterday at a adult group home. The lady that took my info. said that they didn’t require certification (I am a child care provider but only have 1 part time child at the moment and this home is next door to me) – they send you to first aid and other classes. She also said that after 5pm there was only 1 person on a shift-I wonder if this is a normal thing? There’s 16 residents,it just seems there’d be at least 2 people at least per shift. I haven’t received a call yet(she said it would be Thurs.) but I just wanted to hear what someone else thinks.

    20. Trisha Says:

I live in california in the bay area and need help finding a CNA program! any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks

    21. Kim Says:

Call a local nursing home and ask for the director of nurses. She/he should be able to help you.

    22. Kim Says:

Group home staffing is different than nursing home. The care needs are usually less. But you won’t get paid as much.

    23. Saundra Says:

In Georgia how any patients can a (1) CNA care for by themself.

    24. candice Says:

I got my certification in Georgia, when I was in high school, and I now go to college in Florida and I would like/need to get a job ASAP, but I don’t know if my certification transfers to Florida, since my permenant address is still my parent’s house in Georgia. Please help!!

    25. Mandy Says:

Wow what a great resource. I have been a cna for 5years now and i love it. My spouse nags me all the time to become a nurse like he is but i really dont want to have that scope. I like being where i am. I do the day shift med passes at an assistant living facility. I can get as much hands on on the floor as my time and energy allows. Lately though i have been having difficulty with the legalities of a cna’s scope of work. The issue today is may we apply steri strips to a skin tear? The med tech on didnt know how to do it and the caregiver she was told to ask to do it (by the administrater) said “no its not in my cna scope. So i got called on my first day off and went in to do it. I have no problem with assisting the residents in what ever means i can. I always say if i get fired for helping someone too much then good for me and them. Anyone have issues close to these? I told my spouse when i got home and he said SEE IF YOU WERE A NURSE THIS WOULDNT HAVE COME UP. My answer was oh yea i am going to call our nurse to come in from here hour commute to put a steri strip or two on. LOL NOT

    26. Sarah Says:

    27. Jessica Says:

I just gradualted a Health Academy at my high school. It is a three-year program in which we complete internships and job-shadowing at local hospitals. I have the kowledge of a CNA, but is there a test which will enable my to get my CNA without any further schooling?

    28. shirley Says:

living in santa rosa california, was a cna 20 years ago looking to get recertified or refresher course.
      Who can help me!

    29. Patti Says:

I don’t know if Georgia has mandated staffing, you would have to call the BON.
