Deer hunters find missing Alzheimer’s patient alive in ravine
(11/28/04 – FORT WORTH, TX) — A 70-year-old woman missing for three days was found alive by hunters after she wandered away from her home. Nita Derrick, who suffers from Alzheimer’s and diabetes, was found Saturday in a ravine by two deer hunters about two miles from her home in Dublin, which is about 80 miles southwest of Fort Worth, an Erath County investigator said. Derrick was reported missing from her rural home on Wednesday afternoon. Search teams, using dogs and a helicopter, swept the area on Wednesday night, and again on Thanksgiving and Friday. Derrick was in good condition at Harris Methodist Hospital in Stephenville.

Ninety-three-year-old Margaret Brown had to see her daughter become a hospice patient before she became one herself.
